ABILENE — Facing yet another opponent from a larger classification, the Brownwood Lady Lions were handed a fifth consecutive defeat by Class 5A Abilene Wylie in straight sets Friday night.

Brownwood dropped a 25-17, 25-9, 25-13 decision to the Lady Bulldogs to slip to 7-13 on the season.

Torrey Miller's nine kills were a team-high for the Lady Lions followed by six from Olivia Fowler, four from Aleyia Cotton, two from Katelyn Windham and one from Becca Church.

Miller also led Brownwood with 12 assists while Hadley Monroe contributed seven and Caitlyn Moody was credited with a pair.

Annie Gillispie recorded all three of the Lady Lions' aces.

Defensively, Davalynn Monroe logged 14 digs trailed by nine from Moody, eight from Miller, five apiece from Cotton, Fowler and Hadley Monroe, three each from Gillispie and Windham, and two apiece from Gracie Boswell and Lakyn Ratliff.

At the net, Miller and Boswell collected blocks.

The Lady Lions are off Tuesday then return to pre-district action at 5 p.m. Friday at Llano.
