BELTON — The Howard Payne Lady Jackets dropped all three of their matches at the American Southwest Conference Volleyball Crossover, hosted by Mary Hardin-Baylor, over the weekend to slip to 2-9 overall and 1-5 against league foes.
The Lady Jackets began the weekend with a five-set loss to Louisiana College, 25-16, 25-22, 17-25, 16-25, 15-13, on Friday.
Zhartaezia Bradley led HPU with 16 kills followed by Kailey Doering with 12, Kylie Metcalf and Mya Ross with eight apiece, and Amaya Marshall with four.
McKenna Walker tallied 41 assists while Kylee Shirley notched a pair.
Bradley and Ross served a pair of aces while Walker, Shirley, Doering and Jada Terry added one each.
Defensively, Ross collected 17 digs trailed by Bradley, Walker and Shirley with 10 apiece, Terry with nine, Marshall with eight, Wilson with seven and Doering with five.
Metcalf was in on five blocks, Bradley and Marshall had a hand in three and Walker and Doering contributed one apiece.
For Louisiana College (3-7, 2-2), Paola Salas Adorno tallied 16 kills, Paris Babino finished with 43 assists, three blocks and two aces, and Olivia Huval notched 23 digs.
Saturday began with a three-set loss for Howard Payne in its battle with UT-Dallas, 25-17, 25-17, 25-17.
Bradley and Doering sparked the offense with nine kills apiece trailed by Metcalf with five, and Marshall and Ross with three each.
Walker added 24 more assists while Doering, Metcalf and Shirley were each credited with one.
Metcalf, Marshall and Ross added one ace each.
On the defensive end, Doering notched eight digs followed by seven apiece from Marshall, Walker and Bradley, five from Christian Wilson, four each from Ross and Shirley and two apiece from Metcalf and Terry.
Bradley recorded three blocks trailed by two from Walker and one each from Ross and Metcalf.
UT-Dallas (9-5, 4-1) was led by 11 kills from Sydney Riordan, two aces from Jillian Via, 10 assists by Caroline Schecterie, three blocks from Lauren Schilling, and 11 digs by Briana Tully.
In Saturday’s finale, HPU suffered a 25-18, 25-17, 25-17 loss at the hands of Belhaven.
Doering recorded 13 kills for the Lady Jackets trailed by 10 from Bradley, five from Ross, three from Marshall, and two each from Walker and Metcalf.
Walker recorded 23 assists with four from Madeline Lopez, three from Shirley, two from Ross and one each from Metcalf and Wilson.
Ross, Metcalf, Doering and Bradley served aces as well.
Defensively, Shirley notched nine digs followed by Doering with eight, Bradley with six, Ross with five, Metcalf and Marshall with three apiece, Walker with two and Wilson with one.
Bradley finished with three blocks, Ross netted two and Metcalf and Marshall added one each.
For Belhaven (8-6, 1-5), Lauren Whiting collected 12 kills and nine digs, Megan Nobles served four aces, Grace Eidson dished out 19 assists and Callista Moore, Emily Carroll and Cariss Pauda recorded three blocks.
The Lady Jackets (2-8, 1-4) are back in action Tuesday with a non-conference tri-match at Austin College. HPU will face Ouachita Baptist at 5 p.m. and Austin College at 7 p.m. The next ASC match for Howard Payne is 6 p.m. Friday at Mary Hardin-Baylor.
