GLEN ROSE - The Howard Payne University women’s golf team competed at the Lady Crusader Invitational, at the Squaw Valley Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday stringing together its two best rounds since the program’s restart.

Cali Brockway led the way for the Lady Jackets with another top 20 finish, by shooting a 161 (78- 83), which was good enough for a 20th place finish. Brockway’s 78 on day one was is her best collegiate round in her career.

The Lady Jackets shot a combined 711 (358-353) over the two day period, which led them to an 8th place finish. The 358 on Monday and 353 on Tuesday are all time lows for Howard Payne since women’s golf was brought back.

Klaye Georges finished T-36, by shooting a 180 (92-88). Lauren Piper finished T-42 with a 185 (97-88). Avery Holden rounded out the scoring for the Lady Jackets with a 222 (116-106) for 44th place.

The Lady Jackets will close out the fall season on Oct. 22 -23 at the Abilene Intercollegiate Tournament, hosted by Hardin-Simons at the Diamondback Golf Club.

 

Jackets place 10th at UMHB tournament

 

TEMPLE - The Howard Payne University men’s golf team competed at the Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusader Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday finishing 10th overall.

Andrew Errico led the way for the Yellow Jackets shooting a 162 (76-86) over the two day period, finishing T-30. Kyle Anderson finished 30th with a 165 (83-82).

The Jackets shot a 665 as a team over the two day period, giving them a 10th place finish.

Ty Wright shot a 168 (78-90), which earned him a 47th place finish. Reed Shelley was not far behind has he T-49 with a 170 (84-86). Chase Day shot a 189 (96-93) giving him a 57th place finish. Conner Faught rounded out the scoring for HPU as he shot a 263 (134-129) for a 59th place finish.

The Yellow Jackets will close out the fall season on Oct. 22 -23. in the Abilene Intercollegiate Tournament, hosted by Hardin-Simons at the Diamondback Golf Club.
