ABILENE — With 1:18 left in the second overtime session, the Howard Payne Lady Jackets allowed McMurry’s second goal of the game, as the Lady War Hawks chalked up a 2-1 victory Saturday night.

Calista Flores scored with an assist from Tagan Hansen to propel McMurry (5-8-1, 3-4-1) to the victory.

The Lady Jackets opened the scoring just 7:42 into the contest when Kelsey Bunch found the net, but McMurry drew even at 1-1 with 12:35 left in the first half.

McMurry attempted 19 shots with 12 on goal as Delaney Castor tallied 10 saves.

Howard Payne tried eight shots with four on frame — two by Bunch and once each by Chrissa Manning and Kate Van Wyk.

On Thursday, the Lady Jackets were dealt a 4-1 loss by No. 8 Hardin-Simmons.

Hardin-Simmons scored twice in the first half on goals by Randie Denssion at 8:11, and Kenne Kessler at 35:06. Kessler finished with a hat track as she added second-half goals at the 57:35 mark and at 62:52.

Howard Payne tallied its goal with seven seconds left as Brittany Cortez scored with an assist from Van Wyk.

The Lady Jackets finished with nine shots, with three on target — by Cortez, Dayane Gutierrez and Madison Marzullo.

Hardin-Simmons (10-1, 7-0) fired 31 shots with 13 on frame as Castor recorded nine saves.

The Lady Jackets (2-9-1, 2-5-1) are off until Saturday when they host Sul Ross at 1 p.m. in their home finale.
