EARLY ó The players were ready. The coaches plans were laid out and the fans were attempting to pack the house to watch the Early Longhorns take on the Wall Hawks. But Mother Nature was not be denied Friday night.
Giving it up for the storm, they will regroup and try again at 1 p.m. today at Longhorn Stadium.
In a non-starter marked by a lightning show, rather than the teamsí action, players, fans and coaches attempted to wait out the storm. With no school on Saturday and the contest not being a district game, much of the UIL rulebook regarding starting times did not apply. The game could have started if weather conditions had eased. After lightning struck the area at 9:30 p.m., the game was postponed and rescheduled.
Early is looking forward to releasing the arm of sophomore quarterback Ethan Horton and the running attack, last week led by Chase Reeves and Ty New, against a Wall defense that allowed 491 yards against Brady. Both the Early Longhorns (0-1) and the Wall Hawks (0-1) are looking for the seasonís first win.
