City recreational basketball leagues forming until Friday

The Brownwood Recreation Department is forming womenís, menís over 30 and open-age basketball leagues.

Free admission for HPU weekend basketball games

The Howard Payne University athletic department has announced that the Yellow Jacketsí basketball game on Friday, Dec. 28 and the Lady Jacketsí basketball game on Saturday, Dec. 29 will be free admission games.

Both Howard Payne teams will be taking on the UT-Permian Basin and games will tip off at 3 p.m. both days. at the Brownwood Coliseum.

Brownwood Youth Basketball registration continues

Registration for Brownwood Youth Basketball is under way and is open to boys in the third through sixth grades.

The cost to enter the league ó which will feature instruction by Brownwood High School coaches and players in both 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 games ó is $20 per player and $15 for each additional player.

Games will be played from 10 a.m. to noon on the following Saturdays: Jan. 5, Jan. 12, Jan. 19, Jan. 26, Feb. 2 and Feb. 9.

Little Lions basketball registration continues

Registration for the Little Lions basketball program is in full swing. Forms can be picked up at The Taylor Clinic on 205 Center Ave. during normal business hours.

The cost to enter the program is $15, which includes a t-shirt.

Outfield banners at HPU baseball field available

The Howard Payne baseball program is offering 4x5 advertisement banners on the outfield fence at Don Shepard Park as a fund-raiser for the upcoming season.

The fee for the banner is $200, which will be displayed through Oct. 31, 2008. This price includes a one time purchase fee of $100. The cost for an annual renewal of the advertisement will be $100.

Coaches encouraged to report results

Local high school coaches and/or statisticians are encouraged to report the results of their teamís game or match to the Bulletin the day of the contest.

The deadline to report information Sunday through Friday is 10:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Saturdays.
