MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Dirk Nowitzki overcame a poor shooting night, scoring 28 points and leading a late Dallas rally as the Mavericks won their 50th game of the season with a 106-102 overtime victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night.
Jason Terry scored 29 points for the Mavericks, who have now won 50 games in each of the last 10 seasons. Jason Kidd had 12 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists, and Caron Butler had 11 points and a season-high 13 rebounds.
Memphis held a 13-point lead with 4:25 left in regulation before Nowitzki came out of his shooting slump to help the Mavericks pull even.
The teams were tied at 90 at the end of regulation as Nowitzki scored 10 of the Mavericks’ final 11 points in the fourth quarter.
Dallas was able to hang on after building a 5-point lead in overtime. Nowitzki had six points in the final 24 seconds, including all four of his foul shots.
O.J. Mayo led Memphis with 27 points, while Mike Conley scored 25. Zach Randolph finished with 24 points and 12 rebounds for the Grizzlies, who have lost three straight.
Nowitzki finished the night 9 of 23 from the field, but connected on 6 of his final 8 shots in the fourth quarter and overtime.
Memphis, which built a double-digit lead at the start of the second half, was up 84-73 at the midway point of the last period.
