Feather Bay charity scramble slated for Saturday
The first-ever Feather Bay charity golf tournament — benefitting the Young Readers’ Council and Texas Bank Charities — will be held Saturday, May 19 to mark the grand re-opening of the Feather Bay Development.
The tournament is an 18-hole two-person scramble that begins at noon. The fee to register is $50 per person and registration starts at 11 a.m.
Competitors already signed up include former Major League Baseball players Duke Sims, Max Alvis, Claude Osteen, Rich Hand, Pete O’Brien and Brownwood natives Walt Williams and Jerry Don Gleaton.

Brownwood Lions football camp set for May 29-31
The annual Brownwood Lions football camp will be held Tuesday, May 29 through Thursday, May 31 at Gordon Wood Stadium.
The cost of the camp is $40 for incoming fourth through ninth graders and $30 for incoming second and third graders.
The camp will be broken into four sessions per day. The first session will be held from 8 to 9 a.m. for incoming second and third graders; the second will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. for incoming fourth through sixth graders; the third will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for incoming seventh graders; and the final session will be 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. for incoming eighth and ninth graders.

Lady Horns basketball camp scheduled for May 29-31
The Early Lady Horn basketball camp will take place Tuesday, May 29 through Thursday, May 31 at the Early Middle School Gym.
The camp is open to girls entering the third through ninth grades, and the cost for the camp is $45. The fee must be paid before or on the first day of camp.
Registration forms should be turned in by May 18 so camp t-shirts came be ordered.

HPU soccer camp slated for June 11-14 at new complex
The 2007 Yellow Jacket Soccer Camp, open to boys and girls ages 4 to 17, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 11 through Thursday, June 14.
The fee to register is $65 before May 21, and $75 after that date.
The camp will take place at the new Howard Payne Soccer Complex at Citizen National Bank Field, across from the HPU baseball field on Center Ave.

Brownwood Lions basketball camp set for June 11-14
The 2007 Brownwood Lions basketball camp for incoming second through ninth graders will be held Monday, June 11 through Thursday, June 14 at Warren Gym on the Brownwood High campus.
The fee to register is $40 and each camper will receive a basketball and T-shirt. Other daily prizes will be awarded during the camp.
Incoming second through fifth graders should attend the 9 a.m. to noon sessions, while a session for incoming sixth through ninth graders will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. each day.

Brownwood Lions/Lady Lions soccer camp June 18-21
The 2007 Brownwood Lions and Lady Lions soccer camp will take place Monday, June 18, through Thursday, June 21 at Gordon Wood Stadium.
The camp is open to incoming kindergarten through ninth grade boys and girls, and the fee is $35 per camper.
Two sessions will be held daily. Camp for incoming kindergartners through fourth graders will take place from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., while camp for incoming fifth through ninth graders will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Free tennis clinic in Bangs in June
An adult and/or junior free tennis clinic will be offered at the Bangs High School tennis courts starting the first Thursday in June.
With only two courts available, space is limited to the first eight to sign up in each category.
The clinic will take place for a minimum of six weeks. One-hour sessions will be held each Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
Morey and Judy Mast, along with John George, will direct the clinics.

Texas Youth Football League early registration continues
Early registration for the upcoming fall season of the Texas Youth Football League is now under way. Registration forms for the third and fourth grade and fifth and sixth grade leagues are available at Weakley Watson Sporting Goods.
The fee to register in May is $85. It increases to $95 in June, $105 in July and $120 in August. The season will begin in mid-August and conclude in late October.
Teams from Brownwood, Early, Bangs, Brady, Coleman, Comanche, San Saba and Goldthwaite will comprise the league, with all games being played on Saturdays. The majority of the games will take place in Brownwood.
