HPU coaches on Wednesday
Howard Payne University will host a reception for former Lady Jackets basketball coaches Chris Kielsmeier and Lindy Hatfield from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the balcony of the Mabee University Center.
The reception will be come and go and all Howard Payne faculty, staff and members of the Brownwood community are invited to attend.
Spring physicals for local
student-athletes on Saturday
Free spring physicals for student-athletes from Brown County and the surrounding area will take place from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 24 at the Brownwood High School gym.

The Bangs Sports Association will hold its monthly meeting at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 1 in the Ag building on the high school campus.
football camp starts June 2
The 14th annual Brownwood Lions Football Camp will take place Monday, June 2 through Wednesday, June 4 at Gordon Wood Stadium.
The camp will be broken into four sessions — incoming first through third graders from 8 to 9:30 a.m.; incoming fourth through sixth graders from 10 to 11:30 a.m.; incoming seventh graders from noon to 1:30 p.m.; and incoming eighth and ninth graders from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
Early registration is currently under way and will continue through May 28. The cost of the camp is $40 and checks should be made payable to BHS Football Camp. The fee can be dropped off at the high school athletic office or mailed to BHS Athletics, P. O. Box 816, Brownwood, TX 76804.

Early Lady Horns
basketball camp starts June 2
The Early Lady Horns basketball camp is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon Monday, June 2 through Wednesday, June 4 at the Early High School gym.
The camp is open to girls entering the third through ninth graders, and the entry fee is $45 and includes a T-shirt. T-shirts should be ordered before the end of school to ensure there is enough for all campers.

Little Cheer Camp
scheduled for June 3
The Brownwood High School cheerleaders will be hosting their annual Little Cheer Camp from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 3 through Friday, June 6 at the Brownwood High gym.
Girls ages 4 to incoming sixth graders are invited to attend. The cost is $35 and registration forms are available at the high school office.

Tennis clinic in Bangs
starts June 5
An adult/junior tennis clinic will be offered at the Bangs High School tennis courts starting Thursday, June 5.
With only two courts available, only eight people in each age category can participate.
The one-hour sessions will begin at 5 p.m. and the cost is $20 per person with all proceeds going to the Bangs Athletic Booster Club.
Morey and Judy Mast will direct the clinic, with the assistance of John George.

Texas 4000 Coastal cyclers headed for Brownwood June 8
Area cyclists are invited to join the Texas 4000 Coastal Team as they enter Brownwood for their overnight stay on Sunday, June 8.
There will be three designated “hop-on” places: 1. Mullin, for the longer distance riders; 2. FM 2126 (Access Road) at Hwy 183; and 3. Lori Lane at FM 2126.
The group will ride on FM 2126 to FM 45 (west) and turn right on FM 2376. They will ride past the Humane Society, the west side of Festival Park and continue on to 14th Street. Turning right on Asbury will lead directly to First United Methodist Church parking lot on 11th Street.
The Brownwood Police Department will provide a guided escort from FM 2376 to the Christian Life Center of Brownwood First United Methodist Church on 11th Street.
Estimated time of arrival will be announced on June 8, as the schedule is based on what time the Texas 4000 team eaves Lampasas.

Brownwood Lions baseball camp set for June 9-11
The Brownwood Lions baseball camp will take place Monday, June 9 through Wednesday, June 11 at Morris Southall Field.
The cost of the camp is $35 and an additional pitching camp will be available for an extra $10.
Session 1, for incoming first through sixth graders, will run from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Session 2, for incoming seventh through ninth graders, will run from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The pitching camp for incoming fourth through sixth graders will take place from 12:45 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, while the pitching camp for seventh through ninth graders will take place at the same time on Tuesday.
Early registration will continue through June 5. Registration forms may be turned into the Brownwood High athletic office or mailed to Scotty Nichols, 2305 Berkley, Brownwood, TX 76801.

The Brownwood Lady Lions basketball camp will take place Monday, June 9 through Thursday, June 12 at the Brownwood High School gym.
The camp will be broken into two sessions, one for incoming second through fifth graders and the other for incoming sixth through ninth graders. Both sessions will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
The cost of the camp is $40 and each camper will receive a T-shirt and other prizes for daily and weekly contests. Howard Payne soccer camp
scheduled for June 16-19
The 2008 Howard Payne Yellow Jacket Soccer Camp will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 16 through Thursday, June 19 at Citizens National Bank Field.
The camp is open to boys and girls ages 4-14 of all abilities. Instruction in all skills and aspects of soccer will take place, and competitions will occur with prizes awarded.
The cost is $70 prior to May 26 and $80 after that date. Early registration is non-refundable and a deposit must accompany each application. The registration cost includes a Yellow Jacket T-shirt.
Forms can be picked up at the Howard Payne athletic office and registration will take place at 7:30 a.m. the first day of camp. Directors and coaches will be ready to receive campers at 8 a.m. on the remaining days of camp.

Texas Youth Football League
early registration under way
Early registration for the upcoming fall season of the Texas Youth Football League is now under way. Registration forms for the third and fourth grade and fifth and sixth grade leagues are available at Weakley-Watson Sporting Goods.
Registration fees are $85 before May 31; $105 before July 31; $120 before Aug. 19; and $140 between Aug. 19 and the cutoff deadline of Aug. 24.
Teams from Brownwood, Early, Bangs, Brady, Coleman, Comanche, Santa Anna and San Saba and Goldthwaite will comprise the league, with all games being played on Saturdays. The majority of the games will take place in Brownwood.
