ABILENE — The Brownwood Lions did not allow a point in the third period and just five free throws in the fourth of their 56-26 win over Olney Friday at the Abilene Wylie tournament.

The Lions will face Jim Ned at 1:30 p.m. today in the round-robin tournament finale.

Brownwood (8-3) led 16-10 after one quarter and 22-21 at halftime, but smothered Olney in the final 16 minutes.

“In the second half we played great defense,” said Lions head coach Shane Perkins. “We were pressuring them and they just didn’t have a lot of open looks.”

Kevin Cunningham tallied 21 points, followed by eight by Parker Taylor and Mike Thompson, seven by Rashad Deal, five by Ike Huestis, four by Zach Green and one by Cody Clements.
