HICO — The Bangs Lady Dragons struggled Tuesday with a three-set loss at Hico, but are hoping their fortunes turn as they host the Lady Dragon volleyball tournament Thursday and Saturday.
A field of 12 teams is expected at the event, including both the Bangs varsity and junior varsity teams. Other teams in the field include the Brownwood JV — which faces the Lady Dragon varsity squad at 10 a.m. Thursday — Santa Anna, Breckenridge, Hico, Veribest, the San Angelo Lake View JV, San Angelo TLC and Junction, among others.
The Lady Dragons have not played at home since Aug. 18, when they split a dual match against Breckenridge and Gorman.
After the tournament is completed, the Lady Dragons will have just four matches remaining until the start of District 8-2A volleyball action.
Bangs will host Bronte on Sept. 15 and Miles on Sept. 22, sandwiched around a dual match in Snyder against the Lady Tigers and Big Spring on Sept. 18.
