ROUND ROCK (AP) — Chantz Pryor went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and scored a run to lead Jasper to an 11-3 victory over Abilene Wylie in the Class 3A state baseball semifinals Wednesday.
Jasper will play defending champion Texarkana Liberty-Eylau (31-5) in the title game Thursday night. Liberty-Eylau defeated Sinton 6-3 in the other semifinals matchup Wednesday.
Justin Parsons (9-1) allowed nine hits in pitching a complete game. Four of the hits came in the ninth. Abilene Wylie starter Cory Davis dropped to 10-1 after allowing four runs in 4.2 innings. His defense committed four errors.
Taylor Hart singled and scored on a groundout by Travis Reagan to give Jasper (32-7) a 1-0 first-inning lead. Pryor scored on a wild pitch to give Jasper a 2-0 lead in the second. He hit a two-run double in the third and added an RBI single in the fifth.
Jasper scored three runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to end Abilene Wylie’s season the same way it ended last year, with a loss to Falfurrias in the state semifinals. Wylie finished 33-4-1.
