BANGS — The Bangs Lady Dragons finished third in their own tournament after posting a 2-1 record Saturday, and a 5-1 mark during the two-day event.

Bangs defeated Veribest in three sets (14-25, 25-8, 25-16) in the third-place game, which followed a three-set win over Junction (22-25, 25-18, 27-25) and a three-set loss to Breckenridge (25-20, 21-25, 25-23).

“I thought this was the best I have seen the girls play during this tournament,” said Bangs head coach Meredyth Meador. “They really stepped it up and played with a lot of heart and did some things they haven’t done before. They were all over the floor, up in the net, they really played as a team.”

Hico captured first place at the tournament, defeating Breckenridge 25-20, 26-24 in the championship game.

In the consolation bracket, the San Angelo Lake View JV defeated the Brownwood JV in the final.
