Perry Young is among this year’s inductees into the Gordon Wood Hall of Champions.
The dinner and induction ceremony honoring this year’s class will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church Christian Life Center, and tickets will cost $25 per person.
The second annual Gordon Wood Golf Classic, a three-person scramble, will be held at Feather Bay Golf Course at Lake Brownwood on Saturday with flights beginning at 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The fee is $80 per player, not including cart, and former lettermen receive a $30 discount. Proceeds will help complete the Gordon Wood Hall of Champions museum and center on the second floor of the Harvey House.

Young is a 1970 graduate of Brownwood High School, where he played football from 1966 to 1969. He was part of the 1967 and 1969 state championship teams, playing wide receiver and free safety.
During his high school career, he caught 62 passes for 1,180 yards and 20 touchdowns. In the championship game in 1969, Young caught seven passes for 203 yards and three touchdowns. He was named to the All-State team and Parade Magazine’s All-American Team in 1969.
Young graduated from Howard Payne University in 1993. He has coached in San Antonio, Midland and Brownwood and is currently coaching in Burleson.
