BRECKENRIDGE — The Brownwood Lions reeled off their fifth consecutive victory Tuesday night, routing the Breckenridge Buckaroos, 68-37, to improve to 12-3 on the season.

The Lions used another stellar defensive effort to put the game away by halftime. Brownwood surrendered just 15 points in the first two quarters, while the Lion offense poured in 37 to establish a 22-point halftime cushion.

Three Lions finished in double figures, led by 17 points from Rashad Deal. Kevin Cunningham and Parker Taylor chalked up 10 points each.

Also scoring were Mike Thompson with nine points, Kenny Vaccaro with eight, Cody Clements with six and Ike Huestis and Russell Foy with four points apiece.

The Lions will be back in action at 8 p.m. Thursday at Sweetwater.

Lady Lions 61, Breckenridge 40

BRECKENRIDGE — With Tuesday night’s 61-40 victory at Breckenridge, the Brownwood Lady Lions have matched their season long win streak of two games.

A season-high four Lady Lions (7-9) finished in double figures, led by LaCresha Williams’ 14 points. Hailey Williams added 11 and Alex Williams and Sabrina Castillo chalked up 10 each.

Gabby Colbert contributed nine points, Stephanie Jordy tallied four, two points came from Ruby Rivera and Courtney Monroe scored one point.

Brownwood led 16-4 after one quarter, 37-15 at halftime and 46-21 heading into the fourth period.

The Lady Lions will not be in action again until Thursday, Dec. 27 at the Lubbock Caprock tournament.
