The summer season of Texas Teen-Age Baseball and Softball will conclude later this week as 10 baseball tournaments will crown state champions by Friday.

Brownwood will be hosting its second TTA state tournament in a little over a week as the Camp Bowie Sports Complex will be the location for the 13-team TTAB Senior Midget State Tournament. The TTAS High School Eligible State Tournament crowned its champion just seven days ago.

The Brownwood Lions, who won their league, received a bye through the district tournament round and will serve as the state tournament host team. The rest of the tournament field, made up solely of TTAB district tournament champions, includes the Eastland Longhorns, Grand Saline Indians, Whitehouse Braves, Fairfield Eagles, Lindale Astros, Pleasant Grove Longhorns, Oak Cliff Rams, Copperas Cove Rangers, Salado White Sox, Belton Aggies, West Shilling Pipe and Steel and Ennis Keller Williams Reality.

The tournament is slated to begin Monday and brackets will be determined at a coaches meeting later tonight. TTAB Senior Midget State Tournament pairings will appear in Mondays edition of the Bulletin.

Brown County will also be represented at five other TTAB state tournaments throughout the state.

The District 5 champion Brownwood Rangers and District 5 runner-up Brownwood As will both be part of the 10-team TTAB Junior Boys State Tournament in Lancaster. Also competing in the event will be the Palmer Heat, Palmer Yankees, Mildred Longhorns, Dawson Bulldogs, Rusk Eagles, Fairfield Nationals, Hawley Bearcats and a team from Miles.

The Brownwood Rangers, District 12 champions, are one of 14 teams competing for the TTAB Freshman Open-Base state crown in Whitehouse, just outside of Tyler. The rest of the tournament field includes the Whitehouse Rangers, Bullard Bullets, Whitehouse Giants, Temple Astros, Belton Rebels, Chandler Bulldogs, Elkhart Elks, Pleasant Grove Orioles, Winnsboro Red Sox, Palmer Raiders, Mabank Red Hawks, Ennis Price Distributing and West Sykora Ford.

The 10-team TTAB Freshman Tight-Base State Tournament in Colorado City will include the District 2 champion Bangs Dragons. Also vying for a state title will be the Colorado City Indians, Miles Bulldogs, Hawley Plowboys, Albany Reds, Eastland Comets, Gorman As, Oak Cliff Rams, Presidio Astros and Carver Park.

Both the Brownwood Astros and the Brownwood Cardinals the champion and runner-up of District 5 will be among the 12-team TTAB Junior Midget State Tournament Field in Athens. Also competing will be the Athens Cardinals, Athens Yankees, Bosqueville Gators, Valley Mills Red Raiders, Eustace Bandits, Kemp Buzz, Lindale Aggies, Bullard Bombers, West Czech Smokehouse and Riesel Pioneer Steel.

Battling for the TTAB Midget Boys state title in the nine-team tournament at Ranger will be the Bangs Dragons. Among the teams competing against Bangs in the state tournament will be the Ranger Indians, Winters Mustangs, Miles Reds, Roscoe Indians and Hawley Indians.
