The Reckless 16-and-under ASA softball team — based out of Blanket and consisting of girls from the Brownwood, Early and Coleman High School softball teams — has qualified for the Region 7 tournament July 11-13 in La Porte.

Reckless clinched its spot at regionals with a fourth-place finish at the ASA state tournament in Wichita Falls. Reckless also placed fourth at the Midland 8-Game Classic earlier this summer.

Reckless posted a 4-2 record at the double elimination state tournament, defeating the South Texas Sting (4-2), the College Station Avengers (4-3), the Austin Stars (6-5) and the Texas Elite Young Guns (7-5). The losses occurred against the Texas Sting (5-2) and the Round Rock Flames (4-0).

At Midland, Reckless compiled a 6-4 overall record.

In pool play, victories were earned against the Midland Explosion (5-0), El Paso Bombers (6-4), Lubbock Lady Patriots (4-3) and San Angelo Thunder Cats (4-3). The Reckless dropped decisions to XLR8 (4-0) and the El Paso Sluggers (6-0).

In bracket action, Reckless split its four contests, defeating the Odessa Heartbreakers (2-0) and the Lubbock Lady Patriots (4-0), while falling to the Midland Explosion (7-0) and the El Paso Sluggers (3-2).

Team members are Brownwood’s Kerri Jones, Tiara Brown, Kate Atchley and Alex Williams; Early’s Janna Allen, Julia Loudermilk and Tylene Middleton; and Coleman’s Carissa Zarate, Amanda Gober, Rynn Norris and Jessica Morales. Reckless is coached by Charles Atchley, Joan Atchley, Joe Zarate and Cody Norris.
