The first Trail Hog Open Golf Tournament, hosted at The Brownwood Country Club, will take place July 7 and 8.
This is a new format for a golf tournament in Brownwood. There will be 40 three-man teams competing in two-low ball gross scoring. On Saturday morning, the 40 “A” players will chose their two playing partners, making up the teams.
Each player will also be competing in an individual net score based on handicap or known playing ability. The handicap committee will establish handicaps for each player prior to the tournament.
There will be a shotgun start at 11 a.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. on Sunday. Team drawing will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday.
Entry fee is $100 per person for the team event, and $20 per person for the individual event. There will be closest-to-the-pin contests on all par-3 holes.
Plans are to make this an annual event. For more information contact Brownwood Country Club PGA Professional Steve McNabb at 646-1086.
