BANGS — Neither the Dragons nor the Llano Yellow Jackets were declared victorious at the end of their non-district game Friday at Dragon Memorial Stadium.
Just a minute and 12 seconds after the opening kickoff, officials stopped the game because of lightning in the area. After an almost two-hour delay to see if the stormy weather would pass, the decision was made to call the contest a “non-game.”
Because the Dragons never had an offensive possession, officials on hand to referee the game determined that it should be called a non-game. The game will not be rescheduled.
Prior to the delay, the Yellow Jackets found their way into the end zone, thanks to 60- and 17-yard runs by senior running back Clayton Maples.
Bangs Head Coach Chuck Lipsey said his team will now redirect their focus.
“Now, all we can do is turn our attention to next week and Hamilton,” Lipsey said.
The Dragons will face Hamilton at home in a homecoming contest Sept. 11 at Dragon Memorial Stadium.
