LUBBOCK — The Brownwood Lady Lions shook off Thursday’s shaky first-round performance at the 49th annual Caprock Holiday Basketball Tournament with a 48-36 victory over Lubbock High Friday afternoon.
The Lady Lions improved to 8-10 with the win and were slated to be back in action late Friday. Brownwood’s third tournament game was slated to tip off at 9 p.m. and results were unavailable at press time.
LaCresha Williams tallied a team-high 16 points for the Lady Lions, trailed by 10 from Hailey Williams, five each from Shalisa Hall and Sabrina Castillo, four apiece from Moochie Galloway and Stephanie Jordy and two points from Gabby Colbert.
“We had a great defensive effort,” said Lady Lions head coach Nikki Heath. “We made a lot of stops and a lot of people stepped up.”
Heath also praised the Lady Lions’ passing on the offensive end of the court.
“We did a good job distributing the ball on offense and that allowed a lot of different people to get involved scoring-wise,” Heath said.
