NFL Punt, Pass and Kick contest today at junior high

The Brownwood Parks and Recreation Department will be conducting a free NFL Punt, Pass and Kick Competition at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25 at the Brownwood Junior High football field. The competition is open to boys and girls ages 8 to 15.

The event will be broken down into four age divisions for each gender — 8 and 9 year olds, 10 and 11 year olds, 12 and 13 year olds and 14 and 15 year olds — based upon the participant’s age as of Dec. 31 of the current year.

The top finisher in each of the boys and girls divisions will advance to the sectional round.

Those interested in participating must provide a copy of their birth certificate and a signed parental waiver form, which is available at the Adams Street Community Center.

For more information, call Parks and Recreation Director David Withers at 646-0146.

TYFL cheerleaders seek donations for uniforms

The Texas Youth Football League cheerleaders are seeking donations so its team of 13 cheerleaders and one mascot will have uniforms in time for the first game scheduled Saturday.

The organization is affiliated with the TYFL in grades 2 through 6.

Sponsors are needed to pay for uniforms and equipment, and those sponsors will be listed on a banner shown at the start of every game.

Tax-deductible donations may be sent payable to the TYFL, 1700 1st St., Brownwood, TX 76801, in care of Kathy Tellez. Indicate in the memo section of the check that the donation is for the cheerleaders.
