ABILENE The Brownwood Lions moved to 11-3 on the season with a 54-41 victory over Abilene Cooper here Friday, their second win over the Cougars this season.

The Lions used a 10-0 run to end the first half and, which resulted in a 35-22 halftime edge. The Lions managed just four third-quarter points as the Cougars closed the gap to 39-34 heading into the fourth period. In the final eight minutes, however, Brownwood outscored Cooper 15-7.

Mike Thompson led the Lions with 19 points, followed 13 from Parker Taylor, nine from Rashad Deal, five from Kevin Cunningham, three each from Ike Huestis and Russell Foy and two points from Kenny Vaccaro.

Lady Lions 56, Lake View 34

SAN ANGELO The Brownwood Lady Lions improved to 6-9 with a 56-34 Friday win over Lake View, which slipped to 0-15.

Brownwood led 19-10 after one quarter, 28-19 at halftime and 37-27 through three quarters. The Lady Lions closed the game with a 19-7 run.

LaCresha Williams led the Lady Lions with 17 points, followed by 12 points from Sabrina Castillo, nine from Alex Williams, six each from Moochie Galloway and Courtney Monroe, three points from Hailey Williams, two from Shalisa Hall and one point from Stephanie Jordy.

BOYS: May 73, Blanket 29

MAY The May Tigers climbed to 7-3 overall and 2-0 in District 16-A, Division II action with a 73-29 home win over Blanket Friday.

Mikey Dickerson led May with 19 points, followed by 14 from Tyler Hammond and 10 from Matt Pruitt. Blanket (0-1 in district) received a team-high 11 points from Brian Box.

GIRLS: Blanket 40, May 34

MAY Candace Bundick scored 13 points and Adrianna Venegas added 12 points to help Blanket to a district win over May here Friday.

Allyse Ballard scored 19 points to pace the May (4-10, 1-2) offense.
