The Bangs Barbie Dolls’ short stay at the TTAS High School Eligible state tournament at the Camp Bowie Sports Complex ended Saturday morning with a 17-0 defeat at the hands of the Clyde Lady Dawgs.
Bangs, which suffered a 6-2 loss to Eastland Friday night, managed just a pair of base runners in Saturday’s contest.
Barbie Doll pitchers Lacey Drawes and Kirsten Reichenau both struggled with their control as they walked a combined 11 batters and hit another.
Clyde put the game away by scoring 11 runs in the bottom of the fourth on five hits, six walks, one hit batter and an error.
The Lady Dawgs were led by Ariel Russell, who finished 3-for-3 with four RBIs and four runs; Reagan Darnell, who was 2-for-2 with four RBIs and three runs; and Rachel Hambrick, who finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run.
Clyde scored all the runs it needed in the first inning as a two-RBI double from Darnell, an RBI single from Hambrick and a sacrifice fly by Krista Rogge resulted in a 4-0 advantage.
