SAN MARCOS — The Brownwood Lady Lions doubles team of Joan Burks and Kathryn Priddy won the girls draw at the Central Texas Tennis Academy tournament over the weekend.
Burks and Priddy received a first-round bye, then defeated a team from Brady (6-1, 6-1), a team from Liberty Hill (6-3, 6-4) and a team from Wimberley (6-2, 1-6, [10-6]) to reach the finals. In the championship match, Burks and Priddy took the first set 6-0 over a duo from San Marcos, then rallied from a 3-0 deficit in the second set for a 7-5 sweep.
The Lady Lion tandem of Julia Arledge and Ilse Rincon reached the third round following opening wins of 2-6, 6-3, 10-7 over Antonian Prep out of San Antonio and 7-5, 2-6, 10-7 over Wimberley.
In singles action, Shasta Pruett reached the semifinals and finished fourth overall.
All other Brownwood tennis players were eliminated prior to the semifinal round, according to head coach Mark Davis.
