Fifth-ranked Brownwood was pushed to the limit by No. 14 Llano Friday night, but the Lady Lions emerged with a five-set non-district victory at Warren Gym.

After dropping the first set 25-16, Brownwood rebounded with victories of 25-15 and 27-25. Llano captured the fourth set, 25-17, but the Lady Lions took the tiebreaker, 15-12.

The Lady Lions improved to 10-10 overall with the win, and 2-1 in regulation five-set matches.

Julie Kennedy led Brownwood with 25 kills, 10 digs, one block and four aces, while Sheldyn Miller finished with four kills, 10 digs, four blocks and three aces. Chloe Geye chipped in four kills, seven digs, a block and two aces, while Alicia Castillo collected four kills, a dig and two blocks. Shelbie Harry notched four kills, four digs and four blocks, while Melissa Rmeili chalked up two kills and two digs. Hadley Lindley recorded 13 digs for the Lady Lions, while Sarah Underwood picked up one.

Brownwood has a challenging week ahead as Class 4A Midway visits at 6 p.m. Tuesday, followed by a Region I-3A championship rematch with No. 7 Fredericksburg at 6 p.m. Friday at Warren Gym.
