Nine members of the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets baseball team were honored by the coaches of the American Southwest Conference as all-conference selections were revealed Wednesday.

Center fielder Kasey Black landed on the ASC West second team for the Yellow Jackets, while eight more players received honorable mention.

Black batted .307 out of the leadoff spot, scored a team-high 31 runs and stole a team-high 20 bases. He also recorded two home runs, two triples and 15 RBIs.

Honorable mention choices included first baseman Blake Shaffer (team-high .319 batting average, 16 RBIs), second baseman Chris Pucci (.220, 14 RBIs, .938 fielding percentage), shortstop Cale Thompson (.248, 1 HR, 17 RBIs), catcher Jose Sierra (.274, 21 RBIs), right fielder Ryan Kunz (.281, 2 HRs, 23 RBIs), utility player Kyle Lloyd (.275, 19 RBIs) and pitchers Justin Davies (5-3, 3.83) and Josh Holmes (2-5, .350).

The Yellow Jackets finished the season with a 13-25 overall mark and were 7-14 in ASC West games, which left them out of the conference tournament.
