REDLANDS, Calif. — The No. 2 Howard Payne Lady Jackets capped an undefeated run through the 24th Annual Redlands Women’s Tipoff Classic with a 66-49 win over the host Lady Bulldogs late Saturday night.

Tournament MVP Stacey Blalock followed her 26-point outing in a 71-60 Friday victory over Chapman with a 13-point effort against Redlands.

All-tournament selection and first-team preseason All-American Meia Daniels scored a team-high 23 points for the Lady Jackets (2-0).

Kim Hoffman added a double-double of 11 points and a team-high 13 rebounds, while Sarah Jockers tallied six points off the bench.

Also scoring for Howard Payne were Daphnie Pippins with five points, Hope Hohertz with four points, and Katy Sarem and Elaine Hobbs with two points apiece.

Howard Payne shot just 33.8 percent (23-of-68) from the floor, but limited Redlands (1-1) to 28.2 percent shooting (17-of-59).

The Lady Jackets also owned a 53-39 edge in rebounds and forced 18 turnovers.

Leading 26-23 at halftime, the Lady Jackets pulled away in the final 20 minutes by outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 40-26.

HPU will open its home schedule Monday, Nov. 26 against Sul Ross at 3 p.m. That game also marks the start of American Southwest Conference play for the defending champions.
