Bulletin Staff Report

The Brownwood Lions’ Friday baseball playoff warm-up game at Robinson was cancelled Monday, according to Lions head coach Scotty Nichols.

The District 2-3A champion Lions (13-9), ranked No. 23 in the latest 3Abaseball.com poll, were slated to visit No. 6 Robinson (22-1) at 7 p.m. Friday. However, heavy rains in the Waco area Monday forced the postponement of Robinson’s Tuesday district finale, which was rescheduled for Friday.

Brownwood and Robinson will still play Saturday’s playoff warm-up game at noon at Morris Southall Field. Nichols added that he is looking for another team to come to town Friday night.

The Lions will also welcome Class 2A Grape Creek for a 4:30 p.m. playoff warm-up doubleheader on Thursday, May 7.

Brownwood, which qualified for the playoffs for the third straight year, will open postseason play the weekend of May 15-16 in the Region I-3A area round. The Lions will face the winner of the bi-district game between the runner-up from District 3-3A (either Andrews or Seminole) and the third seed from District 4-3A (Clint).
