The Brownwood Cardinals jumped on the Comanche Astros early and did not let up in a 14-3 victory in TTAB District 2 Senior Midget winner’s bracket action Tuesday at the Camp Bowie Sports Complex.

With the win, the Cardinals advanced to today’s 5 p.m. contest against the Brownwood Dawgs. Today’s winner will earn a berth in Thursday’s 7 p.m. championship game.

Comanche was forced into the loser’s bracket were it faced and eliminated the Early Braves, 6-5, late Tuesday.

The Cardinals scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning to quickly take control of the contest.

Mason Prosise’s RBI single scored Kalin Young, courtesy running after leadoff batter Dylan Agan walked, with the first run.

Tristan Chesser then followed with a single that brought home Kory Owen, who singled, and Prosise to increase the lead to 3-0.

Two batters later, a two-RBI base hit from Kolton Cotton drove in Chesser and Joe Zapata, courtesy running for catcher Nicholas Perez after he was hit by a pitch, with the final runs of the inning.

The Cardinals pushed their lead to 8-0 in the second inning as Prosise recorded another RBI base hit as both McLane Moore, who was hit by a pitch, and Owen, who walked, scored on the play.

Prosise later scored on a passed ball.

Brownwood grabbed a 10-0 lead in the third inning as an RBI single by Chesser drove home Young, again running after an Agan single, while Perez’s RBI base hit scored Moore, who reached on an error.

Comanche scored its three runs in the top of the fourth inning as Michael Constancia and Armando Lombrano were driven home by Ryan Senger, who later scored on a wild pitch.

The Cardinals ended the game by chalking up four runs in their half of the fourth on RBI base hits by Agan and Prosise.

Agan went the distance on the mound to notch the victory. He allowed three hits - none until the third inning - with three walks and seven strikeouts.
