Jay Ybarra and John Locklin owned a one-shot lead midway through the Championship Flight of the TexasBank Golf Classic, which wrapped up first-round play in the 36-hole tournament Saturday at the Brownwood Country Club.
Ybarra and Locklin shot a round of 60, which barely topped Frank Dietrich and Joe Don Slawson, who carded an opening 61.
The TexasBank Golf Classic is slated to conclude later today at the Brownwood Country Club.
In Presidents Flight action, the team of Lance Fox and Scott Morgan fired an opening 63 to gain a one-stroke edge over Troy Love and David Shoemaker, who were right on the leaders’ heels following a round of 64.
The first flight featured a two-way tie atop the leaderboard as the teams of David Markham and Ronnie Thomas and William Works and Curtis Tippie both finished with rounds of 65 Saturday.
Three more teams — Curtis Harris-Sam Harris, Tim Goodwin- Todd Horton and Dave Olhausen-Mike Hall were a shot back after opening with rounds of 66.
In the second flight, a first-round 66 gave Clyde Noonkester and Scott Hamilton a one-shot lead over Aaron Brown and Chris Hagler.
Joe Martin and Dana Smith posted an opening 67 in the third flight for a two-shot lead over Terry Igou and Dennis Simpson.
Ray Wilson and Jack Early also owned a two-shot cushion atop the fourth flight after an opening 71. Gary Lee and Blaine Weninger carded a 73.
