The Brownwood High tennis team finished up the fall portion of its schedule Saturday with a 12-7 loss to Snyder.
The Lion singles players led the way with three victories in six matches. Collecting wins were Andrew Harding (6-3, 2-6, 6-4 over Lee Zaiman), Michael Fuller (6-1, 6-1 over Alex Parsons) and Brian Bowen (6-0, 6-0 over Chance Kelly). Brownwood also notched a pair of girls singles wins as Julia Arledge debuted with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Taylor Wesson, while Claire Faetche defeated Taylor Reed, 6-3, 6-4. No. 1 player Joan Burks lost for just the third time in 13 fall matches, 6-2, 6-3 to Lauren Bolinger.
The Lion doubles team of Bowen and Cody Snyder tallied a 6-3, 6-1 win over Zaiman and Kelly, while the mixed doubles team of Brandon Wollgast and Breanna Parker chalked up a 6-2, 6-2 victory.
Other Lions competing in singles action were Darren Ridley (1-6, 7-5, 6-4 loss to Taylor McClung), Brandon Thompson (6-4, 6-1 loss to Cody Lee) and Snyder (5-7, 6-4, 6-2 loss to Logan Tuber). In doubles action, the teams of Thompson and Fuller (6-4, 6-0 loss to McClung/Lee) and Harding and Ridley (6-4, 0-6, 6-3 loss to Tabor/Parsons) came up short.
The Lady Lion doubles teams — Burks and Faetche (6-4, 6-4 loss to Bolinger/Wesson), Arledge and Ilse Rincon (6-4, 0-6, 6-3 loss to Reed/Melissa Chuer) and Shasta Pruett and Stephanie Sanchez (6-1, 6-3 loss to Cassie Cochran and Carrie Harlan) — all dropped their matches.
In girls singles play, Rincon (6-4, 6-4 loss to Cochran), Pruett (6-2, 6-2 loss to Harlan) and Sarah Faetche (6-1, 6-0 loss to Chuer) were all denied.
In the JV portion of the match, Brownwood earned five wins in 15 contests. Picking up victories were boys singles players Brian Thomas, Justin Moore and Noah Marlin, Kelsey Reid on the girls singles side and the boys doubles team of Thomas and Raymundo Delgado.
Brownwood will resume the tennis season on Jan. 19 against Abilene Wylie.
