MASON — Brownwood’s Keeley Brown and Canyon’s Schuele Batenhorst — both of whom plan to join the Howard Payne tennis program — teamed up to capture the 18-year-old girls doubles championship at the Mason Dr. Pepper Open tennis tournament, which concluded Sunday.

Brown, a three-time singles regional qualifier, also teamed up with former Brownwood Lion and current Howard Payne Yellow Jacket Chris Sutton in open mixed doubles and reached the quarterfinals before losing in a third-set tiebreaker.

Sutton and Jared Walker, who played doubles together for Brownwood High, competed in mens open doubles and advanced to the second round.
