Freshman cousins Doug Drury of Bangs and Amanda Gober of Coleman were named to the 6-2A all-district baseball and softball teams, respectively, this spring.

The cousins were born only 22 hours apart in different states. Drury was born in Brownwood first, then Gober arrived in Fort Polk, La.

Drury is the son of Greg and Melissa Drury, Gober is the daughter of Jay and Melissa Gober and the grandparents are Larry and Celia Drury of Bangs.

Prior to her high school career, Gober played in four summer league state tournament and one ASA national tournament in Gasden, Ala. where she was a member of the national championship team.

Drury has competed in five summer league state tournaments and been a part of one championship team. Drury also has been a member of two state runners-up, a third-place team and a fifth-place team.

Both are expected to contribute to their teams push for a playoff berth in the new District 8-2A in the spring of 2009.
