TUSCOLA - The Brownwood Lady Lions’ three-game win streak came to halt with Tuesday night’s 64-50 loss at Jim Ned.

The Lady Lions (3-3) had collected wins over Clyde, Cross Plains and a double-overtime decision over Bangs after opening the season with losses to Comanche and Class 2A No. 11 San Saba.

Brownwood trailed 17-10 after one quarter, 30-18 at halftime and 42-36 through three periods, but Jim Ned outscored the Lady Lions 22-14 over the last eight minutes.

Patricia Wilson led the Lady Lions with 16 points, followed by 14 from Kelsey Gober, six each from Amanda Gober and Mallorie Maxwell and four points apiece from Sara Byrd and Trinity Ansons.

The Lady Lions will take part in the Ballinger tournament this weekend, opening up against Sonora at 3 p.m. Thursday.

Jim Ned 73, Lions 45

TUSCOLA - The Brownwood Lions slipped to 0-2 on the season with Tuesday’s 73-45 loss at Jim Ned.

Brownwood trailed 24-7 after one quarter, 44-14 at halftime and 58-30 through three quarters.

Greg Jefferson and Marquos Barnes led the Lions with 14 points each, trailed by seven from Chris Cotton, four from Luke Chastain, three from Michael Ballejo and one point from Graylon Brown.

The Lions will take part in the Ballinger tournament Thursday through Saturday.
