Special to the Bulletin

Brownwood Lions play-by-play radio announcer Dallas Huston was caught by surprise when he was named grand marshal for this year’s “Feels Like Home Grand Parade” sponsored by KTAB-TV and the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce.

The parade will be held during the Reunion’s Lucky No. 7 celebration Sept. 14-16.

Huston was on hand for the announcement, made during a committee planning meeting of Brownwood Reunion Celebration volunteers.

“It’s the Reunion’s Lucky No. 7 and we are all looking forward to Brownwood High School winning the state football championship again this year and making it ‘Lucky No. 8’ for our football team and the community,” Huston said after the meeting.

Among a long list of honors, Huston is known as the “voice of the Brownwood Lions” and has been one of the biggest supporters of BHS and its sports programs for years.

In 1963, he began announcing BHS football games and continues to do so.

Along with Huston’s family, players representing all seven Brownwood High state championship teams of 1960, 1965, 1967, 1969, 1970, 1978 and 1981 will be riding in the parade.

The parade will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15. Entry forms are available online at BrownwoodTx.com or for more details call locally at (325) 998-INFO (4636).
