Following busy opening weeks for both the Brownwood Lady Lions and Bangs Lady Dragons, the county’s only two volleyball squads will clash at 6 p.m. Tuesday in pre-district action.
Bangs carries the better record into the contest, having gone 6-3 in nine matches last week.
The Lady Dragons posted a 4-2 record in the Albany tournament after sweeping Santa Anna and San Angelo TLC in their first two matches. At Albany, Bangs knocked off Newcastle, Lingleville, Hawley and Gorman with losses coming to Bronte and Newcastle in the first meeting.
Bangs also suffered a defeat at the hands of Evant this past Friday.
Brownwood carries a 3-5 mark into the showdown with four losses coming at the hands of Abilene High and Abilene Cooper.
The Lady Lions dropped both ends of a dual match against Cooper and Abilene this past Tuesday, then faced both teams again at the Bev Ball Classic with the same results.
In Brownwood’s other matches at the Bev Ball Classic, the Lady Lions defeated Irving High, San Angelo TLC and Burleson, while suffering a loss to Lubbock Coronado.
Players to watch for Bangs include Keirstin Williams, Beth Mullins and Kinsie Ward, among others.
The Lady Lions are led by Melissa Rmeli, Sarah Underwood, Devin Lyons and Mahogany Green, among others.
