HAMILTON The Bangs Dragons remained alone atop the District 6-2A baseball standings by chalking up their sixth straight win to start league play.

The Dragons cruised to a 15-0 victory at Hamilton Wednesday in a game that was originally slated to take place Tuesday, but soggy weather conditions in Hamilton forced the contest to be pushed back a day.

Bangs (13-2) tallied four runs in the top of the second inning, five runs in the third and added its final six runs in the fourth inning.

Blake Stembridge ignited the offense with a 2-for-2 effort that included a home run, double, four RBI and three runs. Dustin Zink finished 2-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored, while Brandon Montemayor went 1-for-1 with a three-RBI double and two runs scored.

On the mound, Doug Drury tossed the first three innings to earn the win, allowing one hit with three strikeouts. J.T. Newton pitched the final two innings in relief and also recorded three strikeouts.

The Dragons currently lead San Saba (9-5, 5-1) by one game for the district lead with eight league contests remaining. Bangs will venture to Early (8-6, 3-3) at 7 p.m. Friday to wrap up the first half of the 6-2A schedule.
