A field of eight teams will converge on Brownwood High School this weekend as the second annual Bluebonnet Shootout girls basketball tournament takes place Friday and Saturday.
Pool A will consist of high school teams from Jim Ned, Ballinger, Cisco and defending champion Brownwood, while Pool B is made up of squads from Early, Merkel, Cherokee and the Ballinger JV.
Four games will take place in Warren Gym on Friday as Cherokee and the Ballinger JV square off at 5:30 p.m., followed by Brownwood and Ballinger at 6:30 p.m, Early and Merkel at 7:30 p.m. and Jim Ned and Cisco at 8:30 p.m.
Action resumes Saturday with games both in Warren Gym and the high school’s auxiliary gym.
The Warren Gym schedule features Cherokee vs. Merkel at 9 a.m., Brownwood vs. Jim Ned at 10 a.m., Merkel vs. the Ballinger JV at 11 a.m., Ballinger vs. Cisco at noon, Early vs. the Ballinger JV at 1 p.m. and Brownwood vs. Cisco at 2 p.m.
Playing in the auxiliary gym will be Early and Cherokee at 11 a.m., followed by Jim Ned and Ballinger at 2 p.m.
The fourth-place teams from each pool will meet at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the auxiliary gym, followed by the two third-place teams at 4:30 p.m.
Warren Gym will feature the two second-place teams in the 3:30 p.m. third-place game, with the championship game slated for 4:30 p.m.
The tournament is hosted by the Brownwood Lady Lion Basketball Boosters. Admission is $10 for an adult two-day tournament pass and $5 for students. The fee for Friday-only games is $5 for adults and $3 for students. The price to attend just the Saturday games is $7 for adults and $4 for students.
On Saturday, a hamburger meal deal — which includes a burger, chips and drink — will be cooked outside by Kevin Hohertz.
