COMANCHE -- Funeral services for Donald Howerton "Grandaddy Don" Lacy, 80, of Comanche, will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Comanche with Dr. Van Christian and the Rev. Russell Lacy officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Hall & Sons Funeral Home.
Mr. Lacy died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at Abilene Regional Hospital.
Mr. Lacy was born Dec. 6, 1922, in Sidney, to James Bailey Lacy, Jr. and Grace Knudson Lacy. He attended school in Sidney and Comanche and lived in the county until he joined the Air Force. He retired from the service and returned to Comanche, where he worked for Higginbotham's. He also held an administrative position with Comanche Hospital as coordinator of the Agency on Aging until his retirement. He was a Baptist and a member of First Baptist Church in Comanche.
Survivors include his wife, Chestine; son, Roger Harris and wife, Karen, of Dallas; daughter, Gina Ricketson and husband, Laney, of Deer Park; son, Ralph Harris of Austin; son, Gary Lacy and wife, Judy, of Comanche; seven grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, James and Grace Lacy of Abilene; brother and sister-in-law, John and Anita Lacy of Houston; sister, Virginia Boynton of Ft. Worth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a wife, Jonnie Walker Lacy, in 1957; brothers, H. R. and Weldon; and sisters, Grace Lacy Dudley and Margaret Lacy Oglesby.
Memorials may be made to any project or function of the First Baptist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
