Maria De Jesus Munoz Lopez, age 72, of Brownwood and formerly of Mexico, died Saturday morning, Dec. 31, 2011, at her home.

A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, at the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel, and she will then be transported to Mexico for burial there. Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. Sunday, and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.

She was born Sept. 16, 1939, in Mexico, the daughter of the late Jose and Juanita Capetillo Lopez. She was married to Francisco Munoz. They have lived in Brownwood for several years and were Catholics.

She is survived by her husband, Francisco Munoz of Brownwood; six sons, Guadalupe Munoz of Abilene, Jose Z. Munoz, Edy Munoz, Francisco J. Munoz, Margarito Munoz and Guillermo Munoz all of Brownwood; four daughters, Edna Gomez, Ana M. Ortiz, Petrita Garcia, and Claudia Munoz all of Brownwood; 24 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; six brothers, Fortunuto Lopez, Rosalio Lopez, Guadalupe Lopez, Jose A. Lopez, Guillermo Lopez, and Lorenzo Lopez; and one sister, Eulalia Lopez.

She was preceded in death by a son, Juan Munoz; two brothers, Crecensio Lopez and Santiago Lopez; and two sisters, Ancension Salinas and Ernestina Lopez.
