An elderly Brown County woman was airlifted to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene following a two-vehicle collision Tuesday night at the intersection of U.S. Highway 67 and County Road 198 near Bangs.

Ellen Studdard, 85, was driving east on Highway 67 when she slowed to turn right onto County Road 198, Department of Public Safety Cpl. Karl Keesee said. Her car was struck from behind by a pickup driven by a 19-year-old woman.

Witnesses said they did not see any turn signals operating on Studdard's car before the collision, Keesee said.

He said Studdard was alert and talking after the accident but was flown to the Abilene hospital with a cut above her eye that was swelling.
