Henry Franklin Carmack, age 79, of Brownwood died Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, in the V.A. Hospital in Temple.

Graveside memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, in the Cedar Point Cemetery, with Bro. Brian Hall officiating. His body was cremated under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early.

He was born July 14, 1932, in Mangrum, Eastland County, Texas, the son of the late Robert Jay and Cora Byrd Carmack. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and was married to Eva Nell Bennett in Brownwood in 1953. She preceded him in death in 1997. He was a Baptist and had worked in the cabinet and construction business for many years and was known for the quality of work he did. He later worked at 3-M for over 28 years until his retirement and had lived in Brownwood since the early 60s.

He was known for his big heart, his smile and being a prankster who loved to joke. He will truly be missed by those who knew him.

He is survived by his two sons, Robert Franklin Carmack and his spouse of Georgia and Rodney James Carmack and his wife Gladys of Brownwood; two daughters, Katrina Mardell Carmack Herridge of Seagoville and Amberlie Alvarez of Houston; brother, Norman Carmack of Austin; four grandchildren and six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
