ABILENE – The Bangs Lady Dragons were unable to keep their season alive Friday afternoon, falling to the defending Region I-2A champion Wall Lady Hawks, 8-1, in Game 2 of an area playoff series at Abilene Christian University.

The Lady Dragons (22-8) had relied on hot hitting to piece together a 12-game win streak prior to running into Wall (24-4) pitcher Shannon Carrico, who is headed to Texas Tech.

Bangs did not score for the first 13 innings of the series, but finally pushed across a run in the top of the seventh Friday. Keelee Allen led off with a single, Jaylee Roberts then advanced Allen into scoring position and Cheyenne Edwards recorded the Lady Dragons’ lone RBI.

“We played pretty well this series, but their pitcher was pretty dominant,” said Lady Dragons first-year head coach Corey Bledsoe. “We did put the ball in play more today and didn’t strike out as much.”
