A rapidly moving thunderstorm in south and eastern Brown County rocked portions of Brownwood and Early as well as rural areas shortly before sunset Saturday.

Emergency crews were called to a number of scenes as the storm moved through. They included a downed tree in the 1700 block of Sixth Street in Brownwood, and the roof of a barn that had blown off blocking the highway at the intersection of U.S. Highway 183 South and County Road 291.

Strong winds snapped a utility line at the intersection of Indian Creek Road and Highway 45. The storm was accompanied by golf-ball sized hail in some areas.

Several other power lines were also down, including some in the city of Brownwood.

The track of the storm took it northeast, and National Weather Service said.
