KILLEEN — A Brownwood teen told Killeen Police she was sexually assaulted by a Killeen man who faces sex trafficking of children charges. Jeremy Cole, 26, appeared before Federal Judge Jeffrey C. Manske Friday via video teleconference where he heard his rights and was assigned an attorney.

According to the criminal compliant filed in U.S. District Court, an investigation started on May 16 by the Killeen PD when a Brownwood mother reported her 16-year-old daughter was possibly staying in Killeen. On May 4, Killeen Detective Stephanie Perry found an escort ad with images of the minor in her underwear posted online under “adult entertainment: escorts” in the Killeen area.

On May 17, Cole was arrested for traffic violations and outstanding warrants. After giving written consent to search his cell phone, officers found the images used in escort ads along with several of the 1,688 text messages on his cell phone relating to prostitution. While still in custody, Cole admitted to picking up the minor in Brownwood and allowing her to stay with him, but denied she worked as a prostitute.

During an interview with the minor, Perry said she learned the minor worked for Cole for about two weeks as a prostitute and was sexually assaulted by Cole six times between May 6 and May 14.

Bail will be set during preliminary and detention hearings at 2 p.m. Monday at the Federal Courthouse in Waco.
