Brown County Sheriff’s deputies believe they interrupted a drug deal when they executed a search and arrest warrant Saturday morning in Brownwood, according to an arrest affidavit.

Deputies seized 4.2 grams of suspected methamphetamine and arrested John Phillip Couch,50, on a charge of delivery of a controlled substance, the affidavit states. Another man who was present was released pending further investigation.

Deputies served the no-knock warrant around 10 a.m. at a home in the 1900 block of 11th, sheriff’s investigator Carlyle Gover said.

Couch ran into a back room and sat down as deputies entered the home, and it appears he hastily tossed aside $150, the affidavit states. Deputies seized the money.

Deputies also found in the home a syringe, two glass pipes and packaging commonly used in the distribution of methamphetamine.
