GRAHAM — The Brownwood High tennis team struggled through an off day this past Saturday, dropping a pair of matches to the Class 3A programs Graham and Iowa Park.
In a 16-3 defeat at the hands of Graham, the Lady Lions accounted for two of Brownwood’s wins.
Girls singles victories belonged to No. 4 Rosie Cadena (8-4 over Paula Galicia) and No. 6 Lindsey Williams (8-6 over Gracie Chavez).
Notching a singles win for the boys was No. 6 Brandon Muenzler (8-3 over Kevin Figueroa).
Brownwood also fell by a 15-4 count to Iowa Park, with half the wins coming in doubles play.
The Lions No. 3 team of Bennie Salazar and Phillip Trowbridge knocked off J.J. Case and Tom Pruett (9-7), while the mixed doubles team of Cadena and Timothy Sheehan toppled Dalton Nix and Erin Stone (9-7).
The Lady Lions chipped in a pair of singles wins as No. 4 Cadena handled Mable Jordan (8-6), while No. 6 Williams took care of Stone (8-3).
Brownwood (3-3) will return to action at 4 p.m. Thursday when it hosts San Angelo Lake View in the first home match of the season.
