The Howard Payne Lady Jackets piled up the goals over the weekend at Citizens National Bank Field as they climbed the American Southwest Conference women's soccer standings with a pair of lopsided victories.

    On Friday, the Lady Jackets tallied the first three goals in a 3-1 triumph over Texas Lutheran, then followed Saturday with an 8-0 trouncing of Schreiner.

    In Saturday's blowout win, the Lady Jackets (4-5, 4-2) received a hat trick from Leslie Jones, who scored at the 14:03 mark, 16:06 juncture and again with 28:18 remaining in the contest.

    Shannon Costello added a goal at the 32:30 juncture, while Linsey Reed found the net with 7:04 left before halftime to stake the Lady Jackets to a four-goal advantage at the break.

    In the second half, Rebecca Lamar scored 3:02 in while Haley Clanahan added to the Howard Payne tally with 21:10 left and Stephanie Boggs recorded the final goal with 1:29 remaining.

    The Lady Jackets finished with 34 shot attempts, including 15 on goal, while Schreiner fired just three shots, with two on goal. Adrienne Walker, Courtney Beene and Andrea Barvientos combined for the shutout in goal with two saves between the trio.

    In Friday's victory, the Lady Jackets jumped out to a two-goal halftime advantage again behind the foot of Jones.

    Jones first scored at the 14:53 mark of the first half, finding the net from six yards out, then tallied her second goal with 9:54 left before intermission after dribbling through the Texas Lutheran defense.

    With 22:03 left in the contest, the Lady Jackets increased the advantage to 3-0 on a team goal following a corner kick, while Texas Lutheran's lone goal occurred with 13:02 left as Sioned Kirkpatrick found the net.

    Howard Payne finished with 14 shots, including six on goal, compared to Texas Lutheran's 10 shots, with five on goal.

    Walker recorded four saves for HPU, while Devin Walton and Devin Crump combined for three saves in goal for TLU.

    The Lady Jackets return to action at 4 p.m. Thursday when they visit East Texas Baptist for another ASC encounter.
