The First National Bank of Sonora, which began operation in Sonora, Texas, in 1900 and currently has two branches in San Angelo, Texas, and one in Boerne, Texas, is changing its name to Sonora Bank effective Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012.

According to Bob Malone, President and CEO, the reason for the name change was to better reflect both the heritage of the original bank, the unity of our strong community banks, and the growth we have experienced in the markets we serve. Malone states, “our new name, Sonora Bank, reassures our customers that we are one bank under one name and reminds us all of the bank’s roots.”

Along with the name change, Sonora Bank will have a new and improved website and offer additional mobile banking services from their eBanking department. Customers logging in to the bank’s website using the old website address will be automatically redirected to the new website address:

The one thing that didn’t change as a result of the name changes was the bank’s personnel. As Bob Malone said, “our name has changed…our faces haven’t”.

For questions or more information, call the bank at (325) 387-3861 or come by any of their branch locations.
