COMANCHE — Funeral services for Dr. Roy Dante Mims Jr., 73, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mary Dee officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Comanche County. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Comanche County Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 11, 1939, in Langdale, Ala., to Roy Dante Mims Sr., and Sarah Lilah “Gloria” (Chaffin) Mims. He was married to Kathleen Queisner on Aug. 31, 1963, in Kansas City, Mo. He was a Fellow of the American College Of Osteopathic Physicians And Surgeons, American Osteopathic Association, and Texas Osteopathic Association. He served on the Comanche City Council, and was a founding member of The Tin House Shooting Club in Comanche. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Comanche and Hope Masonic Lodge No. 481 in Comanche.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Mims of Comanche; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Lisa Mims of Comanche; daughter, Sara Mims of Fort Worth; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Hicks of Eastland; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Gloria Mims.
